Krymov Lab in Watermill Centre![]() Watermill Centre: A group of stage designers, led by Vera Martynova, will create an object-based opera based on Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. Krymov Lab with project "A Story: Dido & Aeneas" has been invited to come to the
Watermill Center November 29-December 18, 2011 as a part of our artists-in-residency program. In 1992, Robert Wilson founded the Watermill Center to foster research in the arts of theatre, to provide young and emerging artists with a unique environment for creation and exploration in theatre and all its related art forms. We are developing a strong global network, which transcends age, experience, social, religious and cultural backgrounds. We hope to challenge genres and art forms, breaking with traditional forms of representation. This project was selected from over 183 applications by an international selection committee of cultural leaders consisting of Kristy Edmunds, RoseLee Goldberg, Marie-Claude Beaud, Nike Wagner, Dr. Thomas Schutte, Taryn Simon, John Rockwell, Alanna Heiss, Ida Nicolaisen, Jorn Weisbrodt, Sherry Dobbin, and Robert Wilson. There was great support from our committee regarding “Turn Around the Other” as the ideas in the proposal are fresh, strong and engaging for new audiences. *** These news are not just incredible for us, they are fantastic. To implement this project and to be able to work on it together with all the members of the group of "A Story: Dido and Aeneas" we need help. The financial help. Tremendous support has already been received from GITIS which made our trip nearly possible. We would like to greatly thank GITIS chancellor Karina Lvovna Melik-Pasheva. At the moment we are searching for the support among our friends, parents and sympathizers. To participate please visit "A Story: Dido and Aeneas" performances on November 15-th and 16-th. We prepare a lot of paintings and artworks done during the previous years that will be on sale after the performance. All the money raised by the sale will be used to support our trip to "Watermill Centre". In case of any questions about the trip please contact Vera Martynova (razuverus@gmail.com, phone: +7 (985) 926-96-77) Or if you would like to come to the performance please contact Evgeniy Houdyakov (hudoi.vsegda.prav@gmail.com, phone: +7 (915) 198-11-59)
